Kevin Mayne who is a member of Godric CC has written an interesting blog (ref [624]) about his early life cycling with the Godric and the restoration of his track racing bike. In his blog he frequently mentions grass track racing on his club's home track at Bungay "By the time I bought the Freddie Grubb in 1974 many of the meets had died out, but we could still expect to race several times a year on grass and we would train every Wednesday on our club track at the Ditchingham Meadow sports grounds."

Bungay held the East Anglia Grass Track Championships on 9th August 1980 and a press report gave information about the two title races. Four local juniors from Haverhill won the 4,000m pursuit title and Max Pendleton won the 8km scratch race from David Edwards in a thrilling race. The following year Haverhill triumphed again in the pursuit and Gerry Taylor beat Max Pendleton in the 8km race.
